Girl Who Got Away est le quatrième album studio de Dido. Il inclut les collaborations de son frère Rollo Armstrong, Sister Bliss, Lester Mendez, A. R. Rahman, Rick Nowels, Greg Kurstin, Jeff Bhasker, Kendrick Lamar, Rizzle Kicks[1] et Brian Eno. Dido a révélé son titre le en postant une photo sur son compte Twitter[2].

L'album sort le , après deux singles sortis respectivement fin 2012 et début [3].

Singles et promotion

Le , le titre Let Us Move On est révélé au public[4] via le site NPR, il s'agit d'une collaboration avec le rappeur américain Kendrick Lamar. Une vidéo avec les paroles[5] a été réalisée quelques jours plus tard. Les critiques de la presse et des auditeurs sont très enthousiastes[6], tous saluent le retour aux sources pour Dido. Également pour préparer le terrain à la suite de l'annonce de la sortie de l'album, la maison de disque offre le titre Thank You[7],[8] enregistré en live acoustique aux studios Abbey Road à Londres le [9] avec Adam Falkner et Pete Rinaldi du groupe One Eskimo. Quelques nouveaux morceaux de l'album y ont également été interprétés.
