Les mâles mesurent de 17,7 à 21,3 mm et les femelles de 23,1 à 27,9 mm[2].

L'espèce Pristimantis achuar[3] a été placée en synonymie avec Pristimantis luscombei par Ortego-Andrade et Venegas en 2014[4].

Cette espèce est nommée en l'honneur de Bruce Anthony Luscombe[5], président de l'Asociacion de Ecologia y Conservacion (ECCO).
