Installer une imprimante Xerox Workcenter Pro 75

remarque : cette manipulation marche aussi pour le modèle workcentre 7232

Les pilotes

Par defaut il n'est pas possible d'installer cette imprimante.

Tout d'abord commencer par télécharger le fichier PPD qui se trouve sur cette page

Télécharger “PPD, Generic” (fre_wcp75_genericppd.zip)

Décompressez.

Vous avez alors un fichier Xrxwcp75.ppd. On peut le considérer comme le pilote de l'imprimante.

Mais ce fichier ne marche pas sous Ubuntu Gutsy tel quel, il faut l'ouvrir avec un éditeur de texte et supprimer la ligne “*cupsFilter: “application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 XeroxWCPFilter”.

Ensuite vous pouvez ajouter l'imprimante dans CUPS grace au ppd.

Re: Xerox Drivers for WCP problem…. I know this is two years later, but I just got off the phone with Xerox and they walked me through the process of adding a Work Centre Pro (32 in my case) but this should work for all models:

1. Go to the xerox website and download the WinXP Generic PPD driver

2. edit the file as sudo and remove the following line: “*cupsFilter: “application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 XeroxWCPFilter”

3. copy the edited file into /etc/cups/ppd

4. restart the cups service : $ sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart

5. install the printer as you would system>Administration>Printing - the driver should appear in the list, otherwise, click on the Add driver button and find your edited PPD file.

Hopefully this will help others to print with a Xerox WCP…

Installer avec CUPS

L'installation de l'imprimante se fait directement dans l'interface de CUPS. Suivre le tuto http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/cups .

Quand CUPS vous le demandera, il faudra lui donner le fichier .ppd correspondant a votre imprimante. Dans notre cas “Xrxwcp75.ppd” (modifié) fonctionne parfaitement !
