En France, la série a été diffusée dans les années 1960 sur Télé Monte Carlo (réception hertzienne entre Toulon et Menton) et sur TéléLuxembourg, puis plus récemment sur TV Breizh en 2005.

Elle a donné lieu à une suite dans les années 1980, l'acteur principal de la première série, Raymond Burr, reprenant son rôle dans la seconde, une vingtaine d'années après la fin de la première.

En 2020, une nouvelle version a vu le jour avec comme acteur principal: Matthew Rhys.
