Synopsis

Cette série met en scène un excentrique officier de police de San Francisco, l'inspecteur Sledge Hammer, un homme excessif, sadique, misogyne, insensible et totalement ingérable (une parodie loufoque de l'inspecteur Harry). Hammer essaie généralement de régler ses problèmes avec son imposant revolver .44 Magnum, qu'il surnomme « Mr. Gun » et auquel il parle comme à un être humain.

Hammer utilise une phrase fétiche qu'il répète très souvent quand il tente de rassurer son entourage (ses coéquipiers notamment), inquiets par son comportement hors-normes : « Ayez confiance, je sais ce que je fais » (en version originale : Trust me, I know what I'm doing), souvent le prélude à une catastrophe...

Commentaires

Cette série est une parodie de la célèbre sage de films Inspecteur Harry datant des années 1970, notamment son personnage principal, l'inspecteur Harry Callahan interprété par Clint Eastwood.
