Charlie Mariano

Charlie Mariano (né le à Boston, mort le à Cologne) est un saxophoniste américain de jazz qui joue aussi de la musique indienne avec le nâgasvaram, notamment.

Biographie

Il a joué du jazz bebop avec les Stan Kenton big-bands, Toshiko Akiyoshi (sa femme d'alors), Charles Mingus puis de la fusion avec Embryo, Eberhard Weber's Colours, Pork Pie (avec Philip Catherine), et le United Jazz and Rock Ensemble (en)…

Après avoir vécu au Japon et voyagé en Inde et en Europe, il a vécu les dernières années de sa vie à Cologne avec sa femme et ses six filles dont Monday Michiru (en).
